             Introduction

This book was written for those who are studying towards a category B licence. I, the author of eBook – Category B Driving Licence, am a qualified driving instructor and have delivered courses for accompanying drivers as well as theory lessons. I am also a qualified pilot. My aim with this book is to share my experiences and improve your driving licence training.

The book contains theoretical course material for Driving Licence B, combining traffic ordinances, the Swedish Transport Agency’s regulations on the course plan and driving test for Category B with my personal knowledge and experience as a driving instructor and pilot.

eBook – Category B Driving Licence contains all the material necessary for driving licence training in category B. The experience I gained during flight training is also incorporated. There is a major focus on security in the aviation industry, with procedures I believe are lacking in driving licence training. The check-list system used in flight training has been integrated into the course – this facilitates and improves safety while driving.

There are many short sentences, bullet lists and paragraphs in the material to make it easy to read. Simple explanations are also embedded into the text. In comparison with the small number of books currently on the market, the theory is presented in a new way. The theoretical and practical content is presented in chronological order. Some parts of the theory have instead been integrated into the practical Driving section. The Driving section begins with a number and follows the numerical order that driving instructors are familiar with, and the majority use. Theory and practice interact seamlessly in the same book.

For your own safety, and the safety of others, it is important that you become a good driver with a good sense of what is required in different situations. A car can be a deadly weapon. eBook – Category B Driving Licence “eBoken Körkort B” forms the basis of your driving licence training. You will be assisted by your accompanying driver/driving instructor. Asking your accompanying driver/driving instructor questions will help you to learn more. There are no foolish questions; just foolish answers.

About the author

Who is Frida?

Hi! I was born and raised in Bollnäs, Hälsingland. Sitting in a car at a driving school in Bollnäs as an 18-year-old, I’d never have believed that just three years later, at the age of 21, I’d be starting a driving instructor course.

But after just one year in the industry as a fully qualified driving instructor, I felt like something was missing; something that would help and make life easier for people learning to drive. The idea of writing my own theory book started to take shape, and grew stronger over time. The driving instructor course I attended gave me a really good grounding, just as your driving licence training will give you a solid foundation to succeed. My fantastic colleagues – Omed Hamlan in particular – and the people I’ve had around me have helped me develop into the professional, educational driving instructor I am today.

I studied the natural science programme, specialising as a pilot, at upper secondary school. I hold PPL (Private Pilot License), CPL (Commercial Pilot Licence) and ATPL theory (Airline Transport Pilot Licence theory) accreditation. The experience I gained during flight training has been applied to this book. There is a major focus on security in the aviation industry, with procedures I believe are lacking in driving licence training.

Following six years working as a driving instructor, work on this book began in 2015. Now it’s 2020, the book is finished and you can benefit from my knowledge and experience as you learn to drive a car.

The best of luck to everyone!

Final words

Like so many others, my grandfather died in a tragic road accident. He stepped off the bus to cross the road towards his tractor, in which he was supposed to drive the remaining distance to his house. But he never got to the other side. His life ended, right there, in the middle of the road.

Car manufacturers, road constructors and those of us who teach drivers are all striving for vision zero when it comes to accidents. Now it’s your turn to make sure there are no fatalities or serious injuries on our roads. Obtaining a driving licence can be considered being entrusted to practise driving on your own. You will continue to develop as a driver even when you have completed your training. Remember, we never stop learning as long as we live.

I wish you the best of luck!
